Rec Level Coaching Certificate
This program is designed as a way to get parents and volunteers into coaching; we heard you and created this fantastic course. It will consist of 2 hours in the classroom and 3 hours on the field with a focus on basics. Since these coaches will be involved with our youngest players, we have designed this course with them in mind. This will give coaches a firm base to help teach skills and foster a fun creative atmosphere for your rec players. The information and training provided in this course will focus on teaching basic ball handling skills, designing fun practices and managing young players. It is a nice introductory level course for those coaches who will later take the Level 1 course when their team transitions to travel play. The introductory cost will be $20 per coach, which covers both the classroom and field sessions for the course.
If you're interested in hosting a course, please let us know! We will open early registration for your club only, before offering it to our other member clubs. To maximize the instruction potential, we will be limiting class sizes to a maximum of 40 participants, so hurry and register before it's full! We can also accommodate a "private" course for just your club with a minimum of 20 participants. Level 1 Coaching Certificate
The Level 1 course offered by the SJGSL for coaches, assistant coaches, trainers and anyone participating on the staff sidelines in the SJSL and/or SJGSL travel leagues. This course is designed to satisfy the NJ Little League law for limited coach liability and to focus on league specific rules and regulations. This course is intended for NEW coaches who do not currently hold a coaching certificate or license from another entity. It is ALSO a good course for coaches who hold another license, and who are now looking to refresh and update their coaching knowledge. There is both a classroom AND a field session component to this course. You must complete BOTH components to receive your Level 1 Coaching Certificate. You must attend a classroom session PRIOR to attending a field session! Applicants must be at least 16 years of age to attend the course. Applicants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at the field session or complete the waiver available on the league website.

Level 2 Coaching Certificate
The South Jersey Soccer Leagues Coaching Education Level 2 course is here! At the request of our membership, a Level 2 course was designed to help coaches learn how to "coach" and how to design and run a practice. It will discuss player development, practice design, basic attacking/defending principles, and coaching techniques. This course is intended as a follow up to the Level 1 course, but it is open to any applicant that currently hold the SJ Soccer League Level 1 certificate or the NJ State certificate (formerly the F license), the State E license, or the USSF National F or higher license. Applicants holding the Grassroots licenses are encouraged to take the SJ Soccer Leagues Level 1 course prior to taking the Level 2 course.
All applicants must have already properly uploaded a copy of their coaching certificate/license through the appropriate league website. Note: This course does not satisfy the NJ Little League law for limited immunity. Applicants must have already taken a course that satisfies that requirement to coach in the SJSL and SJGSL travel leagues.
The cost to attend the Level 2 course is $30, payable by check made out to "SJGSL" (regardless if you are coaching in SJSL or SJGSL), and due at the time of the assigned classroom session. Cash cannot be accepted, and payment is nonrefundable. Because of the nature of the training, class sizes are capped at 20 coaches per field session. Additional classes may be scheduled depending on demand. All coaches must bring with them the waiver form available on the website.
The 3 hr classroom session discussing coaching techniques, player development and practice design. You will be given templates to work from and assigned a topic for the field session. There will be time afforded to work on the drill demo. The field session will present some new drill/activity designs and practices for the first two hours. The next 3 hrs will consist of coach demos. ALL applicants will be required to participate in the coach demo session where you will be afforded an opportunity to observe other coaches demonstrating drills/activities and you will run one of your own. ALL coaches will be assigned a topic for which you will design and run a 5-7 minute drill/activity with players and receive constructive feedback.

You must attend a classroom session PRIOR to attending a field session. There are no session waivers. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age to attend the course. Applicants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at the field session or submit the medical release and waiver form available on the website.
