Welcome to the South Jersey Girls Soccer League Website
3/31/20 - Following the latest direction of US Club, all soccer games scheduled through April 30th are canceled. These games will not be rescheduled. If you had an original TBR from April 18th or 25th - i.e. weeks 6 and 7 (placeholders of 7/6 & 7/7) do not reschedule that game. As mentioned previously, if you have otehr TBRs or rainouts from week #1, please work on rescheduling them - late May is the best suggestion.
3/23/20 - SJGSL is following the guidance of US Club and so all games scheduled
through April 12th have been canceled. These games will not be
rescheduled. If you had an original TBR from April 4th - i.e week #5
(placeholder of 7/5), do not reschedule that game. As I mentioned in my
previous email, if you have other TBRs or rainouts from week #1, please
work on rescheduling them - I suggest looking at dates in May.
We are all hoping to get back on the fields this season - all we can do at this point is wait and hope for the best.
3/15/20 - Following our previous postponement of all games from March 14th
through March 20th, the SJGSL has canceled all games from March 21st
through March 29th - these games are canceled and will not be
rescheduled. The executive board will continue monitoring events as we
move forward and further information on games scheduled beyond that
March 29th date will be provided at a later date. A few notes:
- we have received several emails regarding whether practices are
permitted. Practices are not league events and so anyone with practice
questions should reach out to their club;
- If you had an original TBR from weeks 2, 3 & 4, do not
reschedule those games. They would have placeholder dates of 7/2, 7/3
- If you have original TBRs from later weeks and/or from the
rainouts on 3/7, please continue to work on getting new dates for those
games. I would suggest looking for dates in later April or May. Let's
take this down-time to get all of these games back into the schedule.
3/12/20 - The SJGSL has decided to postpone all week #2 games - those games from Saturday, 3/14 through Friday, 3/20 due to the Coronavirus situation. We will be discussing what to do with games scheduled after 3/20 but we wanted to get this decision to you as quickly as we could.
We will get further information out to everyone as it is developed.
SJGSL is currently monitoring information released by US Soccer, the CDC, and FIFA as it relates to the continuing Coronavirus outbreak. Our concern will always be the health and safety of our players, coaches, referees and their families in and around the game of soccer. As of the writing of this, all league events will go forward as scheduled. The guidance from US Soccer notes that:
The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed. Everyday preventive actions should be taken, including:
● Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
● Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
● Stay home when you are sick.
● Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
● Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
● Follow the CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
● CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.
● Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
● Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
● If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
Please take steps to ensure the safety of your players, coaches and families while also promoting sportsmanship after the match. Many suggestions have been put forth regarding alternatives to the high five or hand shake after a match; those include fist bump, elbows, waving, and foot taps. Or please feel free to use any other method of promoting sportsmanship after a match while still keeping player safety in mind.

COACHING LICENSE PRE-SEASON UPDATE
Following up on our coaching license discussion at the mandatory meeting, everyone should be aware that, in order to be on the player sideline during games, all assistant coaches, trainers and any other staff member MUST have a coaching license and that license must have been uploaded to the league. If that license was secured by way of our South Jersey License Course, the league already has that information and there is no need to upload that certificate.
